I was blown away by the great packaging and simplicity of these boxes. I ordered 2 and was able to glue the first one together faster than it took to break down the cardboard and dispose of the packing materials. You do not need much skill to assemble these! It was extremely simple to put together and afterwards I feel like you could drop it off a roof and it would stay together.

Bought two of these for a pair of Dayton Ultimax 18" subwoofers. This was my first DIY audio project and it was as straight forward and easy as it gets. The CNC cut pieces fit together with near perfection and zero slop. Once the glue dried, the box was incredibly strong and very well designed. My pair of Ultimax subwoofers sound solid in these boxes with zero noticeable flex or air leakage that I can tell.

I'm now fully sold on the concept of DIY audio and am looking on building at least two more of these to add to my home theater setup.

  3. Top notch, don't buy from anyone else. review by EndersShadow on 11/12/2023

I used this kit for my Dayton Ultimax 18. I was originally going to have a buddy of mine build my box for me, but the time this saved us BOTH was INSANE. It's foolproof, requires little to no tools (great for first time DIYer's without a ton of clamps/saw/routers, etc).

The box is about as sturdy as it gets. The Ultimax 18 in this box took all my bridged Crown XLS2000 could take and didnt move much if at all. This is due to proper bracing and panel construction resulting in little to no vibrations, ensuring all your power goes to making sound instead.

I've since gone a route that requires custom boxes, but this is my first recommendation for anyone looking to DIY a good box that doesnt have a ton of tools handy, or a budget to buy them.

I purchased one of these flat packs for my Dayton UM18 sub and the packaging job was the best I have seen from any on-line retailer. They used a well thought out method of strapping the panels together and an abundance of styrofoam to protect the MDF in shipment rather well... so no worries there.

The fit and finish is second to none and the precise CNC cuts make it a breeze to put together with wood glue and a handful of clamps. A close inspection of the seams after glue up indicated that it should be air tight, but I used caulk to seal the seams for peace of mind. I finished mine with Restore 4X tinted black and used a 4 Pole Neutrik connector for the speaker cable.

The finished product looks great and I'm seriously thinking about picking up a second one as the time the flat pack saves in sourcing the MDF, measuring, rechecking, cutting and cleanup is well worth the selling price. If you're on the fence, don't think twice... buy it!

As the reviewer above noted, skipping the steps of designing, then buying, hauling and cutting the mdf for the boxes makes the job so much easier (been there, done that). And the flat pack was precision cut, heads above what I could of done at home.

I used Titebond II glue with a bristle brush to spread, 24" wood clamps and also smaller Quick Grips clamps where needed. I do recommend using clamps to assemble these, as they will squeeze out the excess glue and make a tighter fit.

Thanks again to Erich for the great product and service. Now that I built one box, plan on doing second for a pair of Ultimax 18" subs.

I put together two of these bad boys for some Subs. I'm not done yet but I have managed to glue them up. They are so perfectly cut that I only needed titebond wood glue and painters tape. First I ran my fingers along the wood channels where the glue would go to make sure they are clear of any dust or packing material debris. Then i dry fitted the whole box to make sure the panels are in the right way. The top and bottom panels are not a perfect square (as its designe), so it's important to dry fit to see which way they go. Then don't over do the glue, put a bead on he bottom piece keeping about an inch from the ends. Pop in the two braces and finally the third brace to fit on top of them. Press down and you'll see some glue squeeze out. If it comes out the sides, wrote it away. It's important to wrote it away because now you will reassemble the box with the remaining pieces without glue, line up all the edges by hand and them use your painters tape to tape up all corners. What you are doing is letting the box itself BE your clamps. When dry, t she the tape off and the remaining dry pieces. Now we are going to glue all the sides on. Put glue where ever MDF will touch MDF keeping the top piece dry. Wipe away any glue that might touch it. Then put the top piece in place and use your fingers to line up all the panels, keep checking the corners and seems to get them as close to perfect as you can, then use painters tape to hold them in place. When dry, pull the tape and then inspect the inside. Squeeze glue into any seams you can see inside, its ok to use your finger to drag it up and into place. Then put the glue down for the top piece and put it back into place, it should be a tight fit. Line it up with your finger and let it dry, hold it in place with painters tape. Finally use lots of glue on the backside of the baffle and put it on top. Line it up with fingers. Put weight on it. Done.

The quality and ease of assembly is second to none. I used Titebond wood glue and everything worked out perfect. These boxes are highly recommended!

Erich answered my questions promptly and the packaging for shipment was superb.

Now time to save my pennies to buy another one.

What a great idea cutting these boxes with a CNC machine. I ordered 2 and they went together about 10x faster than if I cut them myself, and certainly nicer looking too. Highly recommended.

Ordinarily I wouldn't dream of buying a flat pack because I enjoy the woodworking aspect of building speaker boxes. Unfortunately a torn Achilles early in the year has me a little hobbled, but I still eagerly wanted to build a new HT sub. After picking up an Ultimax 18 from PE I weighed my options. The idea of all that work suddenly seemed more daunting and that it was a perfect time to try a flat pack.

I received the kit in just a couple days and it went together in another two without a hitch. As others have noted, everything came EXTREMELY well packed. The precision cuts are fantastic. I was very impressed. Kudos to Erich all around.

Anyone with limited time or mechanical means should definitely consider one of these kits. It really is a great deal when you consider the time and mess you'd otherwise have in a project like this.

    Highly recommended!
