  1. Highly recommended for HT and music! review by Pilk on 12/27/2023

I've been through several DIYSG kits in my home theater. Starting with the Fusion-12's to the Maximus-12 to the Vortex 15's and finally to the Titan 818's. Truth is they are all standout performers for HT. The Fusions always impressed me with impact and detail but certainly needed subs to fill out the bottom end. The Maximus were a step up for music. I picked up a pair of Vortex 15's and had hopes of a LCR but they are rare birds and finally gave up finding a third (btw the Vortex are incredible). So on a late night internet drive-by on DIYSG, the elusive Titan 818's were magically in stock. A few months later I had them up and running. I'm not sure how you improve on these. They are smooth as butter and will bring movies to life. Detail, depth and impact even at low level listening. Very efficient and can be driven to reference levels with very little power.

I had a little struggle initially with too much mid-bass for music in my room, but with a little EQ and pulling them out of the corner of the room they now are my favorite music speakers of all time. I can listen at minimal levels and get everything from them. Paired with a pair of sealed 24's I'm completely satisfied. If you see them on the site buy them. No regrets! If you have the room they will pay you back with great sound and an incredible home theater experience.

  2. Great Speakers review by IA on 10/18/2023

I had been wanting to buy some HTM 12's for a long time. I wanted to try an AT screen. These came available and decided to jam them in to a tight fit and give them a try.

I am not a huge audophile, in terms of being able to discern tiny differences. But these are pretty fantastic, they are super clear and clean.

After first setting them up I had a friend who is not a big audio guy at all who listened to them and even he commented on how clear they are.

The build came together very well and is very doable for most people. I highly recommend these to anyone that can make the space for them. They are well worth the price if you are in this price range for speakers.

If you are in the market for LCR and can accommodate this size speaker, dont look again. Just go for it. After reading many threads in avsforum, just convinced myself to purchase the largest of their current lineup. Build was very easy - nothing intimidated. Highly recommend to purchase it with flatpack, accessories and make it one stop shop.
I haven't run the speaker fully yet, but with the test run - its just amazing.

  4. Incredible Speakers review by TJ on 5/18/2023

The Titans are absolutely phenomenal speakers. I run them as my LCR with Vortex 15s for surrounds (same compression driver). The clarity from the Titans keeps blowing me away. I previously had 1099s and I feel that the Titans are a huge step up in quality. Titans are very laid back, smooth, and the bass response is great. I currently don't have subwoofers in my theater and I don't feel like I'm missing that much bass. The bass from the Titans is very tactile, even on my concrete slab, and has good impact. Vocals are very clear and crisp. I also love listening to music on these. Very wide sound stage.

If you can fit these in your theater, they're absolutely worth getting over any other DIYSG design, and probably worth it over commercial speakers costing even 10x as much. They're that good. Erich and Matt did a great job with these.

    To summarize:
    - Laid back
    - Very good bass even without a subwoofer
    - Amazing vocal clarity
    - Great off-axis

I moved from Fusion 12 LR and a 1099 center to 3 Titans for the front sound stage. What a difference. All I can say is if you have the space for them you wont be disappointed. Everything just sounds so smooth and effortless. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Fusions and 1099. I have no regrets whatsoever.

  6. I’d buy them again and again review by JK7.2 on 6/24/2022

I love my titans. I always have. I run dual woofer titan 818’s with vbss cabs tuned to 22hz for each woofer. LCR, on a emotiva xpa dr3 amp, for a while now. But what brings me to finally review them after owning 615’s, then 630’s, and now 836’s, (dual woofer versions) is the step up in sound quality I now have from them with dirac room correction. I would have said in the past that maybe just maybe the titans were lacking just a little something I couldn’t put my finger on. That all changed when I got a pre/pro with dirac. My room is dedicated theater space, with some measures taken to help acoustics. But it’s not “there yet” acoustically. The titan 836’s still sound amazing in my theater. Vocals are very clear. Dynamics are impressive. The standout thing to me is the midbass. It is plentiful. Dirac allows so much tinkering with the house curve, and the titans just keep on coasting. Even to well above reference level. Bass is excellent if a little (lol up to 10db) boost is applied around 25hz. This allows stereo music without subs to be satisfying even to a bass head. They image very well, they never are fatiguing at any volume. The titans are a true value, because I have never heard anything better in my room. Music or movies, the titans are fantastic.
    Pros:
Clarity, directivity, spl, value, looks, size
    Cons:
    None

  7. Outstanding review by Eric on 4/18/2021

Picked up 3 to replace some 3way speakers behind my projector screen. These things floored me. We are building up our sound suite so I don't yet have a 21" subwoofer but these 18's are very capable of keeping up with 98% of the bass. There has only been a hand full of times where you could notice that it fell off a bit early, and usually only in atmospheric tones. The clarity of the mids and high is just beyond. I am consistently hearing new things from old movies.
