I have some compact small-box PA subwoofers from Community that originally used a very similar driver made by Eminence (cast frame, paper cone, roll surround), but when I bought them (used), they did not have the original drivers, which are no longer made. The Denovo Magnum-12 has the perfect set of parameters to be a drop-in replacement in this enclosure, and it has even more Xmax and more power handling due to the larger voice coil. The sound is impactful, and these subs are strong to 45 Hz. Community also made dual-12 and a rare quad-12 version of this series of PA subwoofers, so if you have any of those enclosures in service, consider the Denovo Magnum-12 as an upgrade.
I've tested a number of 12" subs on the diyaudio forum https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/360855-tale-12-subwoofers-distortion-15-dollars.html
This is by far the best of the 8 subs I tested for 40hz and up. It does well with quick impulses like drum hits.
I've tried sealed, vented and passive radiator and the passive radiator with a low tuning sounds the best to me.
Highly recommend!
